ABOUT...

Born in Johannesburg with roots in the Eastern Cape. Deslynn is a Cape Town girl by heart. A soul singer, songwriter and performer, Deslynn loves art.

Deslynn is almost quiet and sometimes loud. Her vibrant personality and subtle demeanour is neither too much nor too little, she floats eloquently between both worlds.

When asked about her gift, Deslynn accredits her musical prowess and passion to God and the influence of her father. The late Desmond Malotana was the founder, band leader and keyboardist for well-known 80's ban, "Brenda and the Big Dudes”. He wrote and produced songs like "Promises" and the hit single, "Weekend Special".

She released her self-titled EP, "Deslynn" in 2014. The EP is Deslynn's first offering on record and enjoys success on local radio. "How" - a cinematic love ballad placed number 1 on the Hunters SA Top Ten (Heart FM) on 12 June 2014 where it remained for 2 weeks. The song was also ranked 8th in the Hunters SA Top 10 chart for the year 2014 while other songs on the EP dabble in reggae, soul and contemporary.

Music makes her skin glow and her skin glow and her mind is always racing with a melody. Through her artivism, she gets really personal, really quick, intent on speaking to the souls of her listeners from the moment they hear her voice

Deslynn released her much anticipated single titled "Black Love" in 2018 featuring multi-media artist Andy Mkosi, produced by Eugene Ackerman and composed by Yvan Potts.

She recently completed her week of recording at Redbull Studios (Cape Town) a collaboration between the two brands through which an EP will be released in 2019, with various artists features.

“A voice like hers simply isn’t meant to be confined. It’s supposed to be heard by many – in a boundless manner – with checkpoints of evoked emotions along the way”

- Celeste Jacobs (RedBull Music South Africa)
